Supermarket honour for Anne
ASDA Hailsham, official opening. Cutting the ribbon is local hero Anne Blight of the Starfish Project with Store Manager Phil Read. October 1st 2012 E40041N.
Anne Blight, who set up The Starfish Project, was at Asda on Monday October 1 where she joined store manager Phil Read and his colleagues to declare the supermarket open officially for business.
Anne, who has helped hundreds of people overcome crippling stammers, was also joined by some of her ex-pupils who have conquered their speech problems and were there to address the crowd.
A severe stutter can mean the sufferer can't use the phone, order a meal in a restaurant or complete everyday interactions. Anne has helped countless people change their lives by helping them get control of their stammers.
Based in Hailsham's Quintins shopping centre, the new Asda has created 107 new jobs for local people.
The new store includes a bakery, pizza counter as well as an extensive George selection.
Mr Read said, it's been a long time coming but the whole team is extremely excited to get the doors open and do what we do best which is serving and supporting local communities.
"I'd like to welcome our new customers to the store and I'm looking forward to meeting as many people as possible during our ipopening week."
"I can assure them that out new colleagues will deliver great customer service and we'll all be happy to help in any way we can."
The store is open from Monday to Saturday 8am until 10pm and Sunday 10am until 4pm.
